Multipanel B-BD-BXDThe Wings, a state-of-the-art office complex in Brussels, welcomes companies and organisations aiming for an eco-friendly and inspiring work environment. The building spans over 50.000 m² across four wings — hence the name — offering premium office spaces, a luxury hotel, a fitness center, restaurants, coworking facilities, a grand atrium, and an auditorium. This ambitious project, located in the vibrant Diegem district, offers facilities designed to minimize ecological impact while enhancing productivity and collaboration. Hunter Douglas Architectural proudly contributed to this exceptional project.
Sustainability and high standards
The Wings stands out for its strong commitment to sustainability and comfort, as evidenced by the prestigious BREEAM Excellent, WELL Gold, and DGNB Gold certifications. The building offers recyclable glass and aluminum façade, maximized rainwater harvesting, and improved energy efficiency through the installation of three large infiltration basins, over six hundred solar panels, and a substantial geothermal energy field (BEO). In addition, they monitor CO2 emissions and subject all materials to independent Life Cycle Assessments. The building is designed to be adaptable and incorporates demountable materials wherever feasible.

For this project, the architect played a pivotal role in translating ambitious sustainability goals into reality. Their expertise ensured meticulous planning and execution.
Functionality and acoustics
Hunter Douglas Architectural played a crucial role in the development of The Wings by supplying metal Luxalon® 30BD slats with a woodprint finish. These slats were chosen as an alternative to solid wood. Thanks to the open joints between the slats and the acoustic mats above them, an acoustic ceiling is created that contributes to a comfortable and sound-friendly working environment. This innovative solution combines aesthetics with functionality and sustainability.
